Editorial policy

Old Quarter Girl is written and filmed by one person: Suzy, who lives and works in Hanoi. This page is the standing promise about how the content is made.

Checked on foot, or labelled

Streets, shops, prices and opening details are checked in person or against a named official source, and pages say when they were checked. Anything that has not been verified yet is marked Not set yet or Not verified, in those words. Nothing is copied from other guides and presented as our own checking.

No paid placement in coverage

No business can pay to be included, ranked higher or described more warmly. Partnerships and affiliate links are disclosed where they appear (see the affiliate disclosure), and they never change what is recommended or in what order.

Images

Photographs are real and credited on the photo credits page. Illustrations, including the ink Turtle Tower and the illustrated map, are labelled as illustrations. A stylised portrait used before Suzy's real street portraits were ready is captioned as a stylised portrait wherever it appears.

Corrections

When something turns out to be wrong, the page is corrected and the correction is not hidden. Write to suzy@oldquartergirl.com with anything that looks off; corrections from readers are part of how this guide stays honest.
